'Cable' for PALP's second exhibition, PALPitations in February 2001 held in the old BT Exchange in Penzance. Site-specific intallations responding to the redundant building and its history, with the theme of 'communication'. Cable was in three parts...

EXCHANGE - the physicality and presence of the old cables and wires torn from the building, and forming a flowing river with a buried pulse of light running through it, suggesting the definition of communication - 'the passage of ideas'.

UNDERCURRENT - the transatlantic cable retrieved from the sea bed at Porthcurno and once alive, humming with messages, now firmly rooted in the concrete floor of the redundant building, dead and buried.

CONNECT/DISCONNECT - The thick rope cable , from one of the ships that laid the metal transatlantic cabel (and from where it got its name) spells out a more basic connection, link, coupling and parting.
